About Online Pharmacy Digest
From the desk of Kirk Johnson:
Hello Online Pharmacy Digest readers,
My name is Kirk Johnson and I am the CEO of Access Lifewear Inc., a privately held Canadian company that owns and operates the Online Pharmacy Digest. The Digest offers free to the public, articles, news, and reviews on the online pharmacy industry - and believe me it's grown into an industry.
First of all I'd like to say that we are not a pharmacy and I am not a doctor or a pharmacist, but one thing is for sure, I do know prescription drugs and pharmacies.
"How is that?" you might ask? Well, to go into that I'll have to tell you a little bit about my recent past:
In 1997, I was diagnosed with end-stage renal failure (kidney disease). Later, it became necessary to begin receiving ongoing, periodic dialysis treatments to reduce the levels of toxins in my body as a precursor to an eventual kidney transplant.
However, during the transplant work-up process I found out that my heart was "slightly enlarged". It continued to grow in size and later progressed into cardiomyopathy, ultimately necessitating a secondary transplant, this time of the heart. In January 2000, as a result of extremely decreased body functions and on advice of my cardiologist, I admitted myself to hospital in Toronto where I waited six months for the appropriate organs to become available. Then in July 2000 I received a heart transplant. Unfortunately, a kidney was not yet unavailable. So it was not until this past January 2003, two and a half years later, that I received the matching kidney transplant to complete a painful yet enlightening ordeal.
As you can well imagine, I have taken a whole cornucopia of prescription drugs and have had more than my share of pharmacies to deal with (mostly good). Take a look at this
list of drugs
from just one pharmacy to see what I mean.
During the time I was away from my regular job as a federal income tax auditor (don't tell anyone that!) I spent time learning about computers and the Internet. After the ordeal such as I had, I wanted to develop a business I could operate from home so I would not have to return to the 9 to 5 grind. The organs I received don't last forever and I just couldn't see myself spending the rest of my days crunching numbers and upsetting John Q Public when I told him his numbers didn't add up.
So I created the Online Pharmacy Digest to offer a little guidance to people online on a subject I know more than just a little about. It seemed to me that someone who uses prescription drugs and has regular interactions with pharmacies is more suited to review them than doctors, who only send people there, or pharmacists, who have a vested interest in making the industry look good.
Sound about right? You be the judge.
As I mentioned previously, the online pharmacy industry is booming. There are hundreds out there and it seems a new online pharmacy pops up every day trying to cash in on the billions spent on prescription drugs each year. That's why the Online Pharmacy Digest is here: to sort through all the fly-by-nighters to get to the bona fide great deals that are out there - so you don't have to!
Enjoy the web site!

P.S. I truly enjoy working with the Online Pharmacy Digest and operating my own business. I was extremely fortunate to find the perfect tool for this kind of endeavor and if you're interested, I guess it's my turn to pass it on, since someone passed it on to me. Let me know what you think.
I could not have done it without this.
P.S.S. Why "Access Lifewear" Inc.? Because of my life's trials, I originally planned to design (my sister is a fashion designer) and manufacture specialty clothing for people on dialysis, or any disease that requires the use of a catheter or "access" device. But that got put on the back burner when I discovered the power of the Internet. But there's still time yet...
